Understand where your information is processed
CloakDoc separates local document work from online purchasing and license services. Here are the boundaries to consider when handling sensitive files.
Document processing
PDF rendering, conversion, identifier matching and printed English OCR run on your device. The document-processing code does not send source files to the license or payment APIs. OCR uses bundled worker, engine and language assets rather than a remote recognition API.
Local storage and cleanup
Batch source files are written to the browser’s Origin Private File System. They may persist until Clear Queue or site-storage cleanup. Exported downloads, operating-system backups and copies you make are separate. Closing a tab is not a verified deletion process.
Online services
Cloudflare serves the website and backend. Paddle handles checkout and billing. License activation and periodic verification exchange purchase references, device identity and entitlement information; Cloudflare D1 stores license records. Contact-form messages are sent to support through Resend.
Desktop and offline use
The Windows application bundles the document tools and OCR assets. Paid plans still need initial activation and periodic online verification. Device credentials use the Windows credential store where supported. Local processing does not make the entire application air-gapped.
CloakData structured-data processing
CloakData is available to Pro and Enterprise users in the Windows desktop application. Supported CSV, XLS and XLSX working files are processed locally. Relationship groups can apply consistent pseudonymous tokens to matching key values across related tables. The workspace key is not uploaded or automatically persisted, so keep it securely if later exports must reproduce the same tokens.
CloakData output is a transformed working copy, not proof of anonymity. Review fields left unchanged, indirect identifiers and exported files before using them downstream. Read the CloakData workflow and format limits.
Export assurance
Batch redaction reconstructs page images; the manual viewer currently adds overlays. Review which workflow you used, its detection limits and the final file. CloakDoc does not claim GDPR or HIPAA certification, guaranteed compliance or zero risk.
