Redact sensitive PDF identifiers on your device
A PDF can contain selectable text underneath what you see on the page. Removing sensitive information requires attention to the exported file, not just its appearance.
How batch redaction works
In the Studio’s batch workflow, select identifier rules and add your PDFs. CloakDoc checks the text and rendered printed English content for matches. It renders each page, covers the detected regions, and builds a new PDF from those redacted images.
The export does not copy the source text layer, original image objects, annotations or attachments. Covered pixels and the source text beneath them are not carried into this new page-image PDF. Uncovered sensitive information can still be visible, so this is not a guarantee of complete removal.
What you can use it for
- Remove supported identifier patterns from invoices or statements.
- Prepare a batch of PDF copies with the same selected rules.
- Check mixed documents containing text pages and printed English scans.
Tradeoffs to review
The result loses searchable source text, interactive forms and original document structure. Rendering can change file size and reduce fine detail. Names, signatures, faces and context are not automatically recognized by the identifier rules. Keep the source separately and inspect every exported page.
Local is not permanently disconnected
Processing runs on your device. The website needs to load its assets; paid activation and periodic verification require online services. For disconnected processing sessions, first install and activate the Windows app and check license validity.
